At about 10:16 pm Friday night, a Turlock Police officer near Chevron ExtraMile, 100 East Glenwood Avenue, Turlock, observed a vehicle violate the California Vehicle Code, so he made a traffic stop on it.

The officer made contact with the vehicle’s driver, Shane Hamilton, 46, of Turlock, and had his dispatcher run him.

Hamilton returned to be on post release community supervision, which means that he can be searched at any time by any peace officer. A search of Hamilton led to the discovery of counterfeit currency which he was trying to conceal in his waistband. Hamilton also had a suspended driver’s license and his vehicle was not registered.

Hamilton was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of making or possessing counterfeit items, driving with a suspended driver’s license due to a DUI conviction, and driving or leaving standing an unregistered vehicle.
