At about 2:01 am Monday morning, the Turlock Fire Department and Turlock Police Department were dispatched to a reported vegetation fire along northbound State Route 99 just north of West Monte Vista Avenue, Turlock.
When crews arrived on scene, they found a well involved grass fire a little less than an acre in size.
Crews worked in the offensive strategy and were able to quickly bring the fire under control, keeping it contained to just the grass and preventing it from spreading to nearby pallets full of product behind Lowe’s.
The fire was called completely out about an hour after initial dispatch.
No injuries were reported.
A person of interest that may have been responsible for the fire was contacted nearby by officers. He was identified and follow-up investigation will be conducted.
The investigation remains on-going. Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is encouraged to call the Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigations Unit at 209-525-5537.
