At about 3:14 am Sunday morning, the Turlock Fire Department was dispatched to a commercial fire alarm at The Vista Apartments, 900 West Monte Vista Avenue, Turlock, on the second floor of the B building.
As firefighters were responding, they received a call reporting that “there’s smoke everywhere”. The incident was then upgraded to a commercial working structure fire which added several additional resources.
When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a wreath in front of an apartment that had been on fire but the fire had since been put out with no extension to anything nearby.
Firefighters learned that there had been another unreported fire at the same apartment earlier that had been intentionally set by someone, so the Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigations Unit and Turlock Police Department responded to investigate.
The Turlock Irrigation District and Pacific Gas and Electric Company responded to the scene to secure utilities, while the Turlock Rural Fire Protection District provided city coverage for the duration of the incident.
No suspects have been identified yet.
No injuries were reported.
The investigation remains on-going. Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is encouraged to call the Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigations Unit at 209-525-5537.
