At about 8:57 pm Wednesday night, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported larceny that had just occurred at Kohl’s, 2751 Countryside Drive, Turlock, after a man had left the store with jewelry and shoes that he had not paid for.
An employee from the business followed the man from a distance, updating police dispatch with his location which was relayed to responding officers.
Eventually, officers located the man in the 2400 block of Craftsman Street with the stolen property in his possession and took him into custody. He was identified as Octavio Alatorre, 27, of Merced.
A search incident to arrest led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia.
Alatorre was released on a citation on charges of petty theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.
