At about 1:09 am Saturday morning, a Turlock Police officer near Dutcher Middle School, 1441 Colorado Avenue, Turlock, was flagged down by a disturbed and shirtless teenager who had just ran away from his nearby home and claimed that his mother had abused him.

During the course of the investigation, officers learned that the incident had started as a disagreement between the two which ultimately ended with Alvarez battering her son and him running away.

Alvarez denied the allegations of abuse.

Ultimately, Alvarez was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of child abuse or endangerment under circumstances likely to produce great bodily harm or death.

The Stanislaus County Community Services Agency’s Child & Family Services Division was contacted who allowed the son to be released to his grandmother.
