At about 1:34 am Sunday morning, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported auto theft that had just occurred in the 3100 block of Taft Court, Turlock.
The vehicle’s description and license plate were put out over the radio and several officers already in the area immediately started searching for it, however, were originally unable to locate it.
A few hours later, at 4:34 am, an officer responding to an unrelated commercial alarm spotted a vehicle matching the description at Carl’s Jr., 100 North Walnut Road. The officer confirmed it was the stolen vehicle by its license plate and attempted to stop it, however, a pursuit ensued.
The pursuit only lasted a few minutes and reached speeds of about ninety miles per hour.
The pursuit went southbound on South Walnut Road from West Main Street before turning eastbound onto West Greenway Avenue. The officer was unable to slow down in time to be able to make a turn with the vehicle so he had to make a U-turn and try to catch back up to it. By the time he was able to turn onto West Greenway Avenue, the vehicle was already way ahead of him and he lost it after it made a turn.
The area was checked, however, the vehicle was unable to be relocated.
The stolen vehicle is a silver 2005 Chrysler 300 bearing California license 5HDU207 and has damage to the left side of its rear bumper. If spotted, immediately call 9-1-1.
The investigation remains on-going. Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is encouraged to call Officer Benjamin Silva at 209-668-6528.
