Sex offender arrested on warrant after being reported to possibly have gun Tuesday afternoon

On Tuesday, April 4th, 2023, at 12:09 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported suspicious person at Bank of the West, 2101 Fulkerth Rd, Turlock, after a man had been seen putting what appeared to be a handgun in his waistband.

When officers arrived on scene, they found and made contact with a man who identified himself as David Eastep, 54, of Ceres.

Eastep was searched and determined to not be in possession of a handgun, however, it was discovered that he had a $25,000 felony Ramey warrant out of Stanislaus County for failing to register annually as a sex offender.

Eastep was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on his warrant.

Teen Shot in the Rear-End by Other Teen

At about 2:20pm Wednesday afternoon, Stanislaus County Sheriff’s and Turlock Police responded to a weapon offense that had just occurred at a residence in the 900 block of Kenwood Avenue, after several callers had reported hearing about 10 shots in the area.
