Child molester arrested with concealed butcher knife during bicycle stop early Thursday morning

On Thursday, June 15th, 2023, at 2:56 am, a Stanislaus County Sheriff’s deputy near the intersection of N Golden State Blvd and Roberts Rd, Turlock, observed a man riding a bicycle violate the California Vehicle Code, so he made a bicycle stop on him.

The deputy made contact with and identified the man as Marc Ausema, 54, of Turlock.

When the deputy had his dispatcher run Ausema, he discovered that he had been convicted of annoying or molesting a child under 18 years of age back in 2004 and was a sex offender because of it, however, he had been failing to register every 30 days as required by transient sex offenders.

During a subsequent search of Ausema, the deputy discovered that he had been unlawfully concealing a butcher knife in one of his front pockets.

Ausema was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of carrying a concealed dirk or dagger and failure to register as a sex offender.
