Man arrested after reportedly calling in fake prescription and running from officers Thursday afternoon

On Thursday, June 22nd, 2023, at 4:32 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to reported fraudulent activity at CVS, 1621 Lander Ave, Turlock, after an employee had reported there was a man inside the business trying to pick up a fraudulent prescription that he had just called in.

When officers arrived on scene, employees pointed out Xavier Campos, 18, of Merced, who began walking away from the officers as they noticed him.

Campos eventually began running and made his way outside the store, however, was able to be caught before getting out of the parking lot.

Campos was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of obtaining or attempting to obtain controlled substances by fraud or concealment of a material fact and obstructing or resisting a public officer in the discharge of their duty.

Teen Shot in the Rear-End by Other Teen

At about 2:20pm Wednesday afternoon, Stanislaus County Sheriff’s and Turlock Police responded to a weapon offense that had just occurred at a residence in the 900 block of Kenwood Avenue, after several callers had reported hearing about 10 shots in the area.
