At about 4:22am Monday morning, Officer Ayala was near S. First Street and A Street when he observed a wanted parolee who had allowed his ankle monitor to die a couple of hours prior, so he got out with him.

Charlie Odell, 45, of Modesto, was confirmed to be on parole for failing to register as a sex offender and was a sex offender who had failed to register yet again, however, had been out of jail for less than five days on something unrelated, so he was within the grace period to be able to register.

Odell’s sex offender status was due to a conviction of lewd acts with a child from back in 2000.

Ayala called Odell’s parole agent to confirm with her that she did want to place a parole hold on him, which she did.

Odell was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of violation of parole.
