Man Shot After Altercation Just Outside City

At about 5:52pm Tuesday afternoon, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office responded to an aggravated assault that had just occurred in the 400 block of W. Simmons Road.

Upon arrival, deputies located a male victim with a gunshot wound. He was ground transported by American Medical Response to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.

The investigation was turned over to the office’s Major Crimes Unit.

It’s still unclear what caused the altercation or who was involved, however, the sheriff’s office does not believe that there is a danger to the public.
