Julien Elementary sixth-grader Gloria Park won first place in the Stanislaus County Office of Education Spelling Bee held Wednesday at Gregori High School in Modesto.

Park beat out 72 other elementary school students from 40 different Stanislaus County schools. She shared the champion title with Leah Raby, a fifth-grade student from Paradise Elementary.

Some of the words she spelled correctly included, conscientious, idiosyncrasy, irreplaceable and seismologist.
