On April 12, 2012, skateboard enthusiast and Turlock resident Brandon Koch lost his battle with adrenocortical cancer at the age of 26. And on April 12, 2013, friends, family and community members gathered at the newly-renamed Brandon Koch Memorial Skate Park to honor Koch’s legacy.
The Turlock Unified School District will purchase a 10-acre Turlock parcel to be use for farming and housing animals that ag students show in the Stanislaus County Fair each year, Trustees decided Tuesday.
Throughout the month of April, the Teen Advisory Council in Turlock will be accepting donated children’s books to donate to underprivileged students in the community.
In an effort to assist at-risk youth, the Turlock Unified School District Board of Trustees unanimously approved the new “BRIDGE” Program on Tuesday, offering an alternative for 9th and 10th grade students who would otherwise be sent to alternative schools such as John B. Allard or Roselawn High School.
Each year, a large number of graduate and undergraduate students at California State University, Stanislaus work diligently to be considered for the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi – a prestigious national society that recognizes superior scholarship of students who exhibit academic excellence.
The Turlock Unified School District Board of Trustees will meet Tuesday evening – but not in their normal location. The meeting, where Trustees will discuss the “BRIDGE” program for at-risk high schoolers, hear a budget update, and consider funding to hire new instructors, will be held at the Turlock High School Performing Arts Building instead.
California State University, Stanislaus is partnering with the Great Valley Writing Project to offer a two-week youth writing program for students in grades 4 through 9.
