The Chevron located on the corner of Golden State Boulevard and Syracuse Avenue got some fresh pavement in their parking lot. The lot, which has housed several different gas stations throughout the years, got a facelift when it became the Chevron, and the fresh pavement makes the old lot look new again.

Around Turlock – August 5

It’s not uncommon for signs around Turlock to restrict parking, however these signs, posted in the southeast corner of the Geer Gardens shopping center have a special restriction. The corner of Geer and Tuolumne roads would be a high traffic area for a Turlocker trying to sell a vehicle, but these signs directly restrict vehicles from parking in the lot “for sale.” Vehicles in violation will be cited or towed at the owner’s expense, according to the sign.

Around Turlock – August 4

During a summer day that was much cooler than average, many Turlockers took the opportunity to check out the Swanson-Centennial Dog Park. The dog park, located in the southeast quadrant of the intersection of Tuolumne Road and Countryside Drive, has not officially opened, but Turlockers have been utilizing the park since the fence went up in July.

Stanislaus County WIC Program to Host Event for World Breastfeeding Week

The Stanislaus County Health Services Agency Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program is hosting an outdoor event Aug. 6 in a celebration to encourage breastfeeding and improve the health of babies around the world and here at home. Around 500 WIC program participants are expected to attend the event at the Community Services Facility located at 251 E. Hackett Rd. in Modesto.

After a long, hot week in Turlock, even John Mitchell, Turlock’s founder, apparently decided to pull out something a little cooler from his closet. A prankster placed this white tank top on the statue of Mitchell, which stands in Central Park on the corner of Golden State Boulevard and East Main Street.

Susan Micheletti Named New CEO of Emanuel Medical Center

Emanuel Medical Center has appointed Susan Micheletti as the new Chief Executive officer following the completion of Tenet’s acquisition of EMC. Micheletti comes to EMC from San Ramon Regional Medical Center, Tenet’s hospital in San Ramon, where she served as Chief Operating Officer in June 2000. Originally, Micheletti joined San Ramon as Controller when it opened in 1990 and was promoted to Chief Financial Officer five years later.
