TUSD, Aspiranet Team Up to Open New Charter School

The Turlock Unified School District and Aspiranet have partnered to offer a new, independent charter school known as Fusion Charter, which will offer instructions and services to meet the needs of about 100 troubled youth in 7th- through 12th-grade. Fusion Charter will serve students who have been expelled, chronically suspended or truant, foster youth, and pregnant teens. It will be located at Free Will Baptist Church at 2217 Geer Rd.

The Stanislaus County Library continues to expand its collection of electronic resources, including children’s eBooks, access to online database, and eMagazines. What was already a growing selection of eBooks available at the Stanislaus County Library, children’s eBooks have now been added.

Donate Blood to Help Turlock Teen With Leukemia

Turlock resident Dustin Babb — an 18-year-old graduate with honors from Pitman High School — was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on Feb. 5, interrupting his goal to attend University of California, Merced and major as a Veterinarian. Babb is currently receiving treatment at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital and will be for the next three years. Delta Blood Bank in Turlock is asking area residents to donate blood on behalf of Babb tomorrow, July 9, from 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
