Around Turlock – June 28

It may not be the big city, but Turlock sees its own rush hour in the evenings as drivers commute home from work. Most of the open road down Geer Road stays relatively clear, but there are a few spots that get congested between the hours of about 5 and 7 p.m. Like this stop at Geer and Santa Fe roads, where cars are often lined up during the mini rush hour.

Emanuel Medical Center Announces July Classes

As with every month, Emanuel Medical Center will hold a number of classes meant for everything from grief support to help with varying forms of cancer during the month of July. Jessica’s House provides grief support for children, teens and families when a family member dies. To prevent feelings of loneliness, Jessica’s House acts as a safe place for families to come together and share their experiences.

Some Turlock trees are giving a little less shade after receiving a trim Friday afternoon. The trees that were trimmed are located at the fork of Golden State Boulevard and Front Street, and surround the “Welcome to Turlock” sign.

Every once in awhile scenes in Turlock may look like they came out of a pastoral painting. With blue skies and dry grass surrounding this abandoned red house, passersby can’t help but wonder what kind of story the old home shares. The house shown here is located on Tuolumne Road near Daubenberger Road.

More and more strawberry stands sit in more suburban areas, as city sprawl crawls in around them.
