Julien Elementary Student Wins County Spelling Bee

Julien Elementary sixth-grader Gloria Park won first place in the Stanislaus County Office of Education Spelling Bee held Wednesday at Gregori High School in Modesto. Park beat out 72 other elementary school students from 40 different Stanislaus County schools. She shared the champion title with Leah Raby, a fifth-grade student from Paradise Elementary.

TUSD Honors Students for Earning Seal of Multi-Lingual Proficiency

During Tuesday’s Turlock Unified School District Board of Trustees meeting, a total of 27 junior and senior students from Pitman High, Turlock High and Roselawn High schools were honored for earning the Stanislaus County Office of Education Seal of Multi-Lingual Proficiency. The Seal is a verification of linguistic proficiency in English and at least one other world language. The Seal will be affixed to students diplomas and transcripts.

Grady Lanser Named TUSD Student of the Month

Walnut Elementary School student Grady Lanser was the Turlock Unified School District’s Character Counts October Student on the Month. At the Oct. 20 TUSD Board of Trustees meeting, Lanser provided an inspirational message about his life at school as a young boy dealing with and explaining dysplasia, a condition that may periodically cause hair to fall out throughout the body, including eyebrows and premature male pattern balding.
