Authorities from the Turlock Police Department and Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department SWAT and Bomb Squad responded to Home Depot on Saturday, but it wasn’t for a crime. The annual safety fair was held Saturday, with Turlockers coming out to enjoy some activities and demonstrations by the local law enforcement agencies.

Pitman Celebrates Homecoming with Rally, Crowns King and Queen

Pitman High School held a homecoming raucous rally Friday morning, highlighted by the crowning of the 2014 Homecoming King and Queen Branson Garcia and Regan Wolfley, respectively. The atmosphere was electric and the noise deafening as students participated in tug of war between the classes, wrapped up their favorite teachers in toilet paper and held a “tap-out” dance competition with beloved band teacher Ruben Modesto strutting his dance moves while dressed up in the Pride’s lion mascot uniform.

City of Turlock crews were filling potholes on Broadway Avenue between Canal Drive and Front Street. The area, which is in front of the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds, is covered in holes and cracks, like many of the roads in Turlock.

Pitman Orchestra Conductor Chosen as Modesto Youth Symphony Orchestra Conductor

Pitman High School Symphony Conductor and AP Spanish Teacher Don Grishaw was recently named Conductor for the Modesto Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO). Grishaw has been a professional violinist for 33 years with the Modesto Symphony and says being named to Conductor of the MYSO will give him the opportunity to reach more children countywide and teach them the majesty and mastery of music.
