Denham to Host US Military Academy Information Night in Modesto for Students and Parents

U.S. Representative Jeff Denham (R-Turlock) will hold a United States Military Academy Information Night to give interested students an overview of the nomination process for applying to one of the United States military academies. The event will take place Aug. 25 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Joseph A. Gregori High School in Modesto. “Each year I have the honor of nominating exemplary Central Valley students to our nation’s military academies,” said Denham. “The academies provide young people with extensive preparation to succeed in our armed forces. Military Academy Information Night is the best resource available for students and parents interested in learning more about how nominations work.”

The Stanislaus Elder Abuse Prevention Alliance (SEAPA) will be holding a Seniors Against Financial Exploitation (SAFE) Seminar on Aug. 22 at the Larsa Banquet Hall, located at 2107 E. Monte Vista Ave.. The seminar focuses on teaching attendants how to prevent elder abuse with an emphasis on financial abuse.

One concerned citizen was allegedly yelled at by someone at this business while trying to make a report. They reportedly told the concerned citizen the business had “not watered in weeks.”

TUSD to Hold First Board of Trustees Meeting of School Year

The Turlock Unified School District Board of Trustees will hold its first major public meeting of the 2014-15 school year Aug. 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the TUSD Professional Development Center, 1100 Cahill Ave. Following a brief inspiration by Director of Human Resources Jason Maggard, the board will recognize members of the class of 2014 who completed their high school studies over the summer.
