This large branch was seen broken off a tree at Summerfaire Park, located at 1350 Fulkerth Rd. Turlock’s trees often lose branches during the stormy winter months, but there’s been nothing but sun lately. This may be attributed to wind, or more human causes.

Around Turlock – June 15

Deadlines are approaching to participate in Turlock’s much-anticipated Downtown Turlock Independence Day Parade, Street Fair and Car Show on July 4. Banners downtown, like the one pictured here, are exciting Turlockers for the nation’s birthday. The day will include a parade of floats from local businesses,nonprofits, and children, as well as vintage cars.

Turlockers know that a trip to Costco means picking up what they need in bulk. One driver took the bulk outside the store when they grabbed a two-for-one parking spot. Occasionally truck drivers in Turlock will take a little extra room because they can’t quite squeeze into the small spots many shopping centers have. This park-job may have been to avoid a few door dings.

Turlock Recreation Swimming to Open Monday

To beat the summer heat, many will be heading to the Turlock recreation pools which open Monday. The City of Turlock – Parks, Recreations, and Public Facilities Facebook announced that Monday will be the first day of recreation swim at Pitman High School, Turlock High School, and Columbia Park pools.

San Francisco 49ers star quarterback, and Turlock native, was spotted at Costco in Turlock. Kap wasn’t picking up toilet paper in bulk though, instead he was pictured on the package of these MoGo flavored mouthguards. According to the MoGo website, Kap’s favorite flavor of mouth guard is fruit punch.

Flag Day: Paying Tribute to Old Glory

Driving around Turlock today, you may notice a few extra flags waving in the wind. Every June 14, Americans celebrate Flag Day. The day commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States, which occurred on June 14, 1777. Although Flag Day is not a federal holiday, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation in 1916 that officially established June 14 as Flag Day.
