Turlock Firefighters to Host Annual Boot Drive on Saturday

Turlock firefighters will be out filling their boots with donations this Saturday at Monte Vista Crossings in hopes to raising money for Turlock Firefighters Local #2434’s “Random Acts of Kindness” fund. Firefighters will be out on Monte Vista Avenue and Countryside Drive with boots in hand between 8:30 a.m. till around 3 p.m. Saturday.

Emanuel Employees Named “Tenet Heroes”

Two Emanuel Medical Center employees have been named “Tenet Heroes” as part of the annual tradition that recognizes extraordinary accomplishments among all of Tenet Healthcare’s 100,000 employees across the nation. Emanuel Cancer Center Executive Director Michael Iltis and long-time Emergency Department nurse Jonathon Carroll were nominated by Emanuel administrators for their commitment to quality, integrity and service. Their nominations were reviewed by a national selection panel.

Trees Planted at Brown Elementary in Celebration of Arbor Day

City of Turlock employees and Mayor Gary Soiseth joined students from Brown Elementary School’s ASES After School program to plant nine new trees at the school in celebration of Arbor Day and Earth Day on April 22. “We’re very, very excited to celebrate Arbor Day, as well as Earth Day,” said Allison Van Guilder, Parks, Recreation, and Public Facilities Director for the City of Turlock.

All Starbucks Open as Usual After Nationwide Register Outage

Starbucks stores nationwide, including in Turlock, will be open as usual after experiencing a register outage that caused the closure of most of its locations. Last night, the corporation acknowledged the outage and stated, "We are actively working to resolve the outage. Our stores that have not already closed for the evening are closing early."

If you’re headed out for a late night coffee or tea, you Starbucks addicts may be out of luck. Starbucks stores nationwide, including in Turlock, are experiencing outages due to a register glitch Friday evening causing many stores to close early or remain open in a limited capacity.
