Around Turlock – January 20

The City of Turlock is preparing for some traffic changes at the intersection of Fosberg Road and Christoffersen Parkway. A traffic signal is planned for the intersection, which currently only has a two-way stop at Fosberg Road, said Director of Development Services and City Engineer Mike Pitcock at last week’s Turlock City Council meeting.

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Turlock post office was closed, although that did not stop residents from trying to get their mail. Car after car pulled into the empty post office parking lot only to be disappointed after encountering the locked doors.

Although often seen at baseball fields around Turlock, these nets here are not for catching home runs. Nets, such as the ones on top of the Bank of America at 501 E. Main St., are often used to prevent birds from building nests.

Possible Expansion Coming to Osborn Immersion Program

The Turlock Unified School District Board of Trustees will hear a presentation on possible changes to the Osborn Two-Way Immersion Academy on Tuesday. Osborn has been the only dual immersion program in TUSD more than two decades — helping thousands of students become fluent in English and Spanish.

The Intuition and Holistic Expo was held at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds on Saturday. Turlock plays host to several expos throughout the year and according to the website for the expo, the one hosted Saturday was a smaller one.

Turlock Fire Hosting CPR Training Class on Jan. 24

In cooperation with the American Safety Health Institute, the Turlock Fire Department will be hosting a CPR class on Jan. 24. The training, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., will focus on adult and child/infant CPR/AED.
