Students and their guests are urged to come out and enjoy some fun in the sun with performing artists, fun activities and much more. The event will open its gates at 1 p.m. and will close at 6 p.m. “We urge the students to come out and enjoy themselves,” said Aubrey Nelson, Interim Assistant Director of Programs and Leadership. “This event is funded by the students, so we would like them to attend to take full advantage of the day.”
By Amanda Langston/The Signal - Coming soon to an amphitheatre very near you: California State University, Stanislaus will present its annual event, “Shakespeare Under the Stars,” with a production of “Twelfth Night, or What You Will,” running April 29 to May 4 in the University Amphitheatre. Director Dan Gately has returned for the fifth consecutive year to lead a cast of about 30 actors in the classic Shakespearean comedy. “It’s a love story, and it’s about finding love, looking for love on your terms,” Gately said of the show’s basic plot, “but finding it by any means necessary.”

Autism Spectrum Disorder, better known simply as “autism,” is characterized by a difficulty with interaction – both verbal and nonverbal – which may also include repetitive behaviors.

Games and information concerning fitness, physical and psychological resources on campus were made available to students. “We developed and approved a Health and Safety Resolution in the Fall semester to support the president’s initiative to make students aware about the health and safety resources available for them.” ASI President Mariam Salameh said.

Throughout the hour an audience consisting of faculty, staff and students listened to Sheley stress the importance of a university-wide culture that has only the best intentions when it comes to campus safety.
By Natalie Winters/The Signal - California State University, Stanislaus has implemented measures to reduce campus water consumption by nearly five million gallons in 2014. In early January, California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) issued an emergency drought declaration, urging citizens and requiring state agencies to reduce their water usage by 20 percent. “No one can predict how long the drought will last and what the state’s water situation will look like in the future,” Melody Maffei, Associate Vice President of Facilities Services, said. “We believe CSU Stanislaus will be in good shape when it comes to water conservation going forward.”

Recent projections have the state as minority-majority by 2020, and as such, a greater importance is put on the ability of the state to educate those students for an evolving world and workplace. Further compounding this, nearly one third of CSU students are the first generation in their families to attend college.

The title of the production, “The Monologue Show,” doesn’t give a lot of clues about what to expect. Director Amy Seeley’s note explains that the show is centered around family dynamics developed by the cast through improvisation.

Associated Students Incorporated Directors invited representatives from California State University, Stanislaus’s Facilities Services and the Finance department on Feb. 18 to discuss parking, what determined the current fees, where that money goes and what is going to happen next.
