Job Watch: CHP Hiring Officers

Interested in pursuing a career as a California Highway Patrol officer? The CHP will be accepting applications in July. The CHP will hire cadets from the pool of applicants to fill vacant officer positions throughout the state. “We are looking for members of our communities to join one of the most well-known law enforcement agencies in the world,” said CHP Commissioner Joe Farrow. “The CHP is looking for men and women who represent the diverse communities that we serve to provide the highest levels of Safety, Service, and Security to the people of California.”

TID Sends Apprentice Lineworkers to Climbing School

The Turlock Irrigation District’s eight new apprentice lineworkers are now out on the job, working to ensure the region’s electrical system is in tip-top shape. Those eight apprentice lineworkers were the cream of the crop, selected from a pool of more than 400 applicants. But despite their qualifications, the apprentice lineworkers needed further training before they could go out in the field with TID crews.

Around Turlock – June 4

Those walking around Downtown Turlock may have noticed a sign in the window of Ritzy Ragz and Thingz, stating the retail store was closed for remodeling. Well, the day has come for the store to open its doors again. A grand re-opening is planned for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The grand re-opening begins at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 5 with the first 15 guests receiving a free gift. There will also be raffle prizes, and food and drink for others attending.

Turlock Christian Salutes Graduates

Turlock Christian Schools took care to recognize all 24 of its graduating students on Friday. The class boasted two Salutatorians – Adam Nicholas Bennett and Katherine Alexandra Temnyk – and two Valedictorians – Savannah Marie Swanson and Michael Christian Uytingco. Bennett began the invocation with a prayer, after which Karen Winter, the Superintendent, gave congratulatory remarks. At one point, Winter asked students to take a selfie to better remember the event.

The Loch Ness Monster might have some company. The “Mystery in Donnelly Park Lake” could be roaming in Turlock’s favorite park. The creature is the focus of a short film, uploaded to YouTube in 2010 but only just discovered by TurlockCityNews.com. The comedic film is displayed like a mockumentary, with the story told in a series of interviews starring an eccentric monster hunter by the name of George Glass.
