Job Watch: CHP Hiring Officers

Interested in pursuing a career as a California Highway Patrol officer? The CHP will be accepting applications in July.

The CHP will hire cadets from the pool of applicants to fill vacant officer positions throughout the state.

“We are looking for members of our communities to join one of the most well-known law enforcement agencies in the world,” said CHP Commissioner Joe Farrow. “The CHP is looking for men and women who represent the diverse communities that we serve to provide the highest levels of Safety, Service, and Security to the people of California.”

According to the CHP, applications will only be accepted online during a four-day period beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, July 7 and ending at 5 p.m. Thursday, July 10.

This application window marks the first time this year that the CHP has accepted applications.

“A life with the CHP is a career, not a job,” said Farrow. “We invite all interested members of our communities to apply during the four-day application period.”

There are minimum qualifications candidates must meet to apply, however. Applicants must be 20-35 years old, a U.S. citizen, have no felony convictions, and be a high school graduate.

Also, all applicants will be required to complete a testing process including a physical ability test, written test, background investigation, medical/vision evaluation, and psychological evaluation.

Those interested in applying, finding components of the testing process (including an applicant study guide and practice test) or seeking additional information should visit www.chpcareers.com. The CHP’s recruitment Facebook Page can be found at www.facebook.com/chp.recruiting.
