Drivers who frequent the intersection of Golden State Boulevard and Taylor Road, be on the lookout for some new traffic patterns.City of Turlock crews were out working at the intersection this weekend, installing new traffic signs. The signs appear to bar drivers from making U-turns while travelling southbound on Golden State Boulevard or westbound on Taylor Road.

Registration Opens for Independence Day Parade, Car Show

As summer approaches, so does the annual Turlock Independence Day Parade, Car Show and Street Fair in Downtown Turlock. From 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 4, countless area residents will head to Downtown Turlock and celebrate what has become a community tradition. This year’s theme is Country Pride. Whether that means “western” or “stars-and-stripes” is up to the participants. Vendors and other entrants are encouraged to interpret the theme to their choosing.

TUSD Board of Trustees to Talk Budget, School Lunch Price Increase

The Turlock Unified School District Board of Trustees will hold a public meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, where a tentative 2014-2015 budget will be presented. The meeting will be held in the Medeiros Elementary School cafeteria, 651 W. Springer Dr. The board will meet in closed session at 6 p.m. to discuss labor negotiations with the Turlock Teachers Association and other bargaining units. At 6:30 p.m. the public session will begin with inspiration from Director of Human Resources Jason Maggard who will present an overview of the 2014 Character Counts campaign.

This green egg isn’t from some Dr. Seuss book.These eggs came from the Turlock Certified Farmers Market, courtesy of 3 Acre Farm. The farm-fresh eggs may look a little different from the store-bought variety, but that’s because real, natural chicken eggs aren’t always white.3 Acre Farm is one of the new additions to the Farmers Market this year, along with fresh meat and coffee vendors. The market opened May 2, and will continue to run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Friday through the end of October.

Family, Friends Come to Aid of Explosion Victim

Family and friends are coming to the aid of a man who lost part of his arm in Friday’s explosion at Carniceria La Rancherita.Chris Browning, or “Uncle Buck” as many know him, suffered life-threatening injuries while working on a refrigeration unit at the Carniceria on Friday morning. For an unknown reason, an explosion occurred while Browning, a contractor, was working on the unit. Browning was transported to an area hospital and quickly went into surgery. Browning lost part of his left arm in the accident.
