TUSD Board of Trustees to Talk Budget, School Lunch Price Increase

The Turlock Unified School District Board of Trustees will hold a public meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, where a tentative 2014-2015 budget will be presented. The meeting will be held in the Medeiros Elementary School cafeteria, 651 W. Springer Dr.

The board will meet in closed session at 6 p.m. to discuss labor negotiations with the Turlock Teachers Association and other bargaining units.

At 6:30 p.m. the public session will begin with inspiration from Director of Human Resources Jason Maggard who will present an overview of the 2014 Character Counts campaign.

At 6:41 p.m. the board will recognize all of the students nominated for the 2014 Character Counts Program, followed by a reception for all of the honorees from about 7:40 to 7:55 p.m.

Following the reception, TUSD’s Educational Services will present information concerning the Local Control Accountability Plan, followed by further information on a tentative budget for next school year.

At 9 p.m. the Technology Department will provide the board with an update including the progress on implementation of the Common Core computerized assessment.

Also, Child Nutrition Services will provide information about the Lunch Price Increase for next school year. Lunches will increase 25 cents for all K-12 paid lunches.

Lastly the meeting will wrap up with a Compensation Comparison Study from Human Resources to provide the board with a review of salaries, benefits and stipends.
