Construction for the controversial Taco Bell at 3606 N. Golden State Blvd. has begun. The fast food restaurant was originally approved at the June 5 Planning Commission meeting, however following an appeal made by an area property owner, City Council had to decide on the matter. Council ultimately denied the appeal and Taco Bell was allowed to be built.
A row of empty parcels stand in the Turlock Town Center, which has slowly been vacated by business after business. Goodwill moved locations within the shopping center, however, most others have simply been leaving.
A banner still hangs for the 1 Stop Food & Liquor, although its location in the Park Villa Plaza is closed. The shopping center has been largely empty since opening, although recent additions of Bliss Salon & Spa and Snazzy Boutique gives the Park Villa Plaza its most tenants so far.
Drivers are warned of low flying aircrafts along Greenway Avenue for the Turlock Airpark. Despite what many believe, the Airpark is not the Turlock Airport — the airport is actually located in Ballico.
California State University, Stanislaus offers a number of athletics camps for several sports that provide the opportunity for athletes of all ages to develop their skills in a fun, sportsmanlike environment. Upcoming is the Warrior All Sport Camp for boys and girls ages 5 to 13, held April 6 through 10.
Turlock’s feathered friends are making their way from Donnelly Park and the California State University, Stanislaus campus to the surrounding neighborhoods. The ducks here were spotted taking up some parking spaces at the Lakeside Apartment Complex.
While not all areas of Turlock the best for bicyclists or pedestrians, some are perfect. The Joe Gallison Pathway, which runs along Canal Drive between E. Main Street and Daubenberger Road, is just one area that makes a great cycling or walking spot.
