Man arrested for narcotics possession after canine alerts to vehicle Friday night

On Friday, July 7th, 2023, at 8:40 pm, Turlock Police investigators near the intersection of W Tuolumne Rd and Pinto Way, Turlock, observed a man driving a vehicle violate the California Vehicle Code, so they made a traffic stop on him.

The investigators made contact with and identified the man as Sanchez Angelo, 36, of Turlock.

While speaking with Angelo, investigators used their training and experience to form the belief that he was involved in illegal activity, so they asked for consent to search his vehicle. Angelo denied.

Investigators then requested that Canine Bjorn respond and perform an open-air sniff. Bjorn performed the sniff and alerted to the odor of narcotics being present within the vehicle, giving investigators probable cause to conduct a search.

During a subsequent search, investigators located a small amount of narcotics.

Angelo was arrested and released on a citation on the charge of possession of a controlled substance.
