On Sunday, January 1st, 2023, at 3:36 am, the Turlock Police Department, Turlock Fire Department, and American Medical Response were dispatched to a reported aggravated assault that had just occurred at a residence in the 400 block of E Linwood Ave, Turlock.

As crews were responding, they received information that a man had a stab wound, however, it may have been self-inflicted rather than an assault.

Crews arrived on scene and found a man later identified as Freddy Gil, 29, of Turlock, suffering a single life-threatening stab wound to his chest. Gil was not breathing and life-saving efforts were immediately started, however, they were unsuccessful and Gil succumbed to his injuries at 3:51 am.

It’s still not been determined if this is a homicide or suicide.
