The City of Roseville Police Department arrested a Turlock couple last week, after the couple was suspected of committing a series of thefts from coin-operated machines around the region.

Roseville detectives arrested Cynthia J. Patrias and Robert J. Miller, both 49, of Turlock, on suspicion of grand theft, conspiracy and other related charges after investigating several coin-operated machine thefts. Charges are pending against two other suspects.

According to Roseville Police, officers from the department responded to four thefts between June 14 and 21 from coin-operated machines at a laundromat and three coin-operated car washes. The suspects went to the businesses in the early morning, drilled the locks to coin boxes, and stole the coins from within.

After interviewing witnesses, reviewing video surveillance, and gathering information from other local law enforcement agencies, Roseville Police detectives were able to identify a group linked to the thefts in Roseville and at least 14 other similar thefts between February and June in Placer, Sacramento, El Dorado, Yuba and San Joaquin counties.

The total loss to the victims of the theft, including repair costs, is estimated to be in excess of $21,000.
