Pitman Football Player Selected for Shot at National Honor

Pitman High School senior Logan Wolfley has been named as the Sacramento Chapter Honoree of the National Football Foundation High School Scholar Athlete Award.

With the local award in hand, Wolfley is now eligible for the national award and scholarship.

The NFF Award is one of the most prestigious and competitive high school academic honors in the country. It honors football players for their achievements on the field, in the classroom and in the community.

Wolfley was a quick, stout running back and a team leader on the Pitman Pride football team, which went 7-3 overall and earned a Sac-Joaquin Section playoff berth in the tough Central California Conference.

Off the field, Wolfley carries a 4.02 GPA and currently serves PHS has the Associated Student Body Vice President. He earned Scholar Athlete of the Year honors in 2011 and 2012. He is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and California Scholarship Federation. In the community he is active in LOVE Turlock, youth wrestling and football camps. Wolfley is also on the PHS wrestling team.

His mother, Cheryl Wolfley, is extremely proud of his accomplishments.

“I am definitely proud of all of his achievements…his hard work in the classroom, on the football field, on the wrestling mat, and of course in his personal life with keeping God #1 and trusting Him with his future! He really is a humble kid who gives glory to the God for all his successes. We are so excited to see where God leads him in the next season of his life!! I'm so blessed to be his mom!! What can I say… I love this kid!!” she said.

Wolfley will be honored during a dinner March 13 in Sacramento.
