Evidently one reader of Weekly Lowlights feels it is a bad idea to put the criminals listed in the Turlock Police Department Activity Log, and we quote, “On blast.”
For those who are not educated in this fairly common vernacular, this means TurlockCityNews.com is putting the criminals’ names out there for all to see. But the reality is TurlockCityNews.com isn’t doing anything wrong – the criminals who commit the crimes and then get their names published in the Activity Log are the ones who put themselves “on blast.”
Case in point: buddies Fabian Moreno, 18, and Francisco Valencia, 19, allegedly made the decision to attempt to steal two bottles of liquor from the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Geer Road Tuesday. As they were leaving the Walmart they must have been confronted by the security guard, and they allegedly threatened to “blast” the security guard over the head with one of the bottles which they had allegedly stolen in the first place. Clearly a genius decision. In any event, they must have female dogged out (Oh snap, I put them on blast) and they fled the scene only to later be located by police at 10:30 p.m. They were both arrested and booked for robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.
Earlier that same day, at just after 2 p.m. at the Walmart on Fulkerth Road, Aleksandr Goltvyanitsa, 31, allegedly figured he could simply walk out of the store with a cart full of merchandise.
On Feb. 22 Marlene Goncalves, 22, allegedly elected not to take a taxi home and instead chose to drive at 2:15 a.m. Police say Goncalves blasted backwards into another vehicle and was arrested for drunk driving at the intersection of Glenwood and Lander avenues.
That same day, at 4:38 p.m., a dynamic duo of alleged shoplifters, Dominique Collier, 28, and Taisha Collier, 32, were arrested in the 3000 block of Countryside Drive for petty theft. Since they share the same last name, it can only be assumed they were trying to steal matching pairs of jeans and blouses.
On Feb. 21 the allegedly conniving, thieving trio of Robert White, 53, Jordon Lyons, 43, and Marcella Posada, 34, were reported to police for attempting to pass a fake check in the 400 block of South Center Street. Officers arrived at the scene after the trio left in their vehicle and quickly located them on South Broadway. Lyons and White allegedly tried to lie about their names but that attempt failed. Lyons was arrested for burglary, forgery and lying about his identity. White was arrested for violation of probation, and possession of stolen property, and writing a fake check, and possession of a loaded handgun. Posada was arrested for conspiracy. All three individuals are from the Stockton area.
On Feb. 20 Turlock police ran into perhaps the oldest surviving alleged meth head in Turlock. Jora Khomari, 61 years young, was contacted as a suspicious person just after midnight in the 100 block of North Golden State Boulevard. As most people know, meth addicts don’t typically live that long. Turns out he was on active and searchable probation. Police discovered him to be in possession of methamphetamine and he was arrested and booked. From a point of scientific study, it would fascinating to see if Khomari still had all of his teeth and toes.
