Walnut Claims Second Place at Science Olympiad, Julien Fourth

Both Walnut Elementary Education Center and Julien Elementary School finished in the top 4 out of 16 schools last Saturday at the 17th Annual Elementary Science Olympiad, held at Hickman Elementary School.

The Walnut Green team finished in second place, and Julien finished in fourth. Walnut fielded two teams, Green and Gold.

“Both Walnut teams worked very hard this year and accomplished great things at the competition on Saturday,” said Walnut Olympiad Coach Marianne Vander Veen. “I am proud of their hard work and dedication.”

Chatom Elementary School and Dennis Earl Elementary School also fielded teams.

The event was sponsored by the Stanislaus County Office of Education and supported by the Education Foundation of Stanislaus County and JS West.

This year’s spectator events included Barge Building, Can Race, Catapult – Racquetball, Straw Egg Drop and Water Rockets.
