At about 1:45pm Thursday, the Modesto Police Department responded to a drive-by shooting at Sunrise Avenue and E. Orangeburg Avenue in Modesto.

Immediately, MPD’s Street Gang Unit (SGU) and detectives took over the investigation, identifying the shooter as a 17-year-old male of Merced.

At about 5:00pm Saturday, MPD’s SGU located and arrested the suspect in the 1400 block of Lambert Way in Turlock.

The suspect was booked into Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall on an array of weapon-related charges, including assault with a firearm.

“We are extremely grateful that no one was injured during this incident and appreciate the swift action of our officers and detectives in apprehending the shooter,” said MPD Public Information Officer Sharon Bear in a statement.
