Turlock police responded to an injury accident on Quincy Road, near Castleview Drive, at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

The two vehicle accident had injured two elderly occupants of a Chevy Lumina that had been broadsided.

An 82-year-old man and 72-year-old woman were transported to an area hospital, said Turlock police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis. At approximately 9 p.m., the Turlock Police Department received report that the 82-year-old had died.

The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Luiz Azevedo, 82, of Turlock.

According to Lewis, a 16-year-old female was traveling southbound on Quincy Road in a Chrysler Pacifica when the elderly couple attempted to cross Quincy Road while traveling eastbound on Castleview Drive.

The intersection there is a two-way stop; traffic on Quincy Drive does not have a stop sign, but Castleview Drive does. It is unknown at this time if Azevedo, who was driving the vehicle, ran the stop sign.

Officers have not reported if either party was speeding.

The 16-year-old was not injured in the collision, said Lewis.
