A Turlock man was arrested Wednesday morning after allegedly robbing a homeless man on back-to-back days this week.

According to Turlock police spokesperson Sgt. Stephen Webb, the first incident occurred on Monday, when the suspect, who allegedly had a knife, approached a homeless man on the 100 block of North Center Street and demanded his wallet. The victim complied.

The following day, at approximately 4:31 p.m. on Tuesday, the victim was again reportedly approached by the suspect and allegedly victimized near the intersection of North Center Street and Main Street.

The victim only knew the suspect’s first name, Robert, but officers were able to identify the suspect through investigative leads and the help of an anonymous source.

At 10:55 a.m. on Wednesday, a Turlock police officer was able to locate the suspect walking on Geer Road and took him into custody without incident.

Robert Cortez, 34, was arrested for robbery.
