Police Release Identity of Victim in Monday’s Fatal Shooting

The Turlock Police Department has released the identity of the victim who was fatally shot on Monday night.

Oscar Peralta, 38, of Turlock, was shot multiple times while in the 1000 block of N. Denair Avenue and later succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a nearby hospital.

Turlock police responded to the intersection of Starr and N. Deniar avenues around 11:30 p.m. Monday after receiving multiple reports of a shooting that had just occurred.

“Investigators have been working non-stop in an attempt to determine what took place before and after the shooting,” said the Turlock Police Department in a news release.

Prior to the fatal shooting, three drive-by shootings were reported, including one on the same street. It is unknown if any are related to the homicide.

At approximately 10:07 p.m., Turlock police received report of an unknown male suspect firing approximately three shots at a wooden fence in the 500 block of Starr Avenue, said Turlock police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis. The suspect then fled in a dark, four-door vehicle.

It is unknown if the suspect was targeting the fence, but no injuries were reported from the shooting. Officers found evidence of the shooting on scene.

The other two drive-bys were reported to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office. Requests for information on the shootings have gone unreturned.
