Three Men Arrested for Turlock Drive-by

Turlock Police have arrested three men believed to be involved in a June 23 drive-by shooting that occurred in the 600 block of Birchwood Way.

The arrests began on Wednesday, following the service of two search warrants by Turlock Police Department Investigators and the Special Weapons and Tactics Team.

Leonardo Ortiz, 20, and Jose Ortiz, 22, both of Patterson, were arrested in the 1100 block of Almaden Way, Modesto. The search warrant was served at 7:20 a.m.

A second search warrant, served at 4 p.m. in the 600 block of Pine Creek Dr., Patterson, turned up two stolen firearms, marijuana, evidence of marijuana sales and cultivation, and approximately $2,000.00 in cash, according to police. A further two pounds of marijuana were found in Leonardo Ortiz’ vehicle.

Both Leonardo and Jose Ortiz were booked into Stanislaus County Jail for or discharging a firearm in a gross and negligent manner stemming from the original drive-by shooting, sales and cultivation of marijuana and possession of stolen property as a result of the search warrant.

Juan Carlos Alvarez, 32, of Turlock, was arrested Thursday morning in Downtown Modesto by Turlock Police Department Investigators. He was also booked on a charge of discharging a firearm in a gross and negligent manner.
