Turlock firefighters and police officers have responded to Hotel Drive for a report of a gas leak.

The public safety personnel responded to the the call which came in around 10:30 a.m.

Preliminary information suggests that the gas leak was hit by a backhoe in the area nearby Panera bread and a construction site.

Police have blocked off westbound Monte Vista Avenue at Countryside Drive.

Firefighters have also set up roadblocks nearby hotel Drive in between the Holiday Inn Express and nearby Panera bread.

PG&E has also responded to the scene with public safety personnel.

Evacuations are in place and firefighters are asking people to avoid the area.
