On Monday, March 21st, 2022, at 9:49 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a follow-up investigation at Safeway, 3051 Countryside Dr, Turlock, after a victim of an AirPods theft spotted two subjects who they believed to be who stole their AirPods.

Officers arrived on scene and made contact with the two, identified as Joseph Saldana, 39, of Turlock, and Jose Hernandez, 33, of Turlock.

Both Saldana and Hernandez had misdemeanor warrants out for their arrest and Hernandez was on misdemeanor probation for drug related charges with probation terms that allowed him, his property, and anything in his immediate surrounding to be searched by any peace officer at any time.

A search incident to arrest was conducted on Saldana and a probation search was conducted on Hernandez, however, no AirPods were recovered during either of the searches.

After investigating, officers learned that there was a vehicle associated with Saldana and Hernandez in the parking lot. The vehicle was also searched, however, no AirPods were recovered.

Both subjects were arrested and released on citations for their misdemeanor warrants.
