Alquist Arms, Turlock’s most popular gun store, will be opening the doors at their new, larger store on April 26.

The grand opening will feature raffles, vendors, and new product at the new 5,000 square-foot store, located at 1400 Freitas Park.

Alquist Arms will be giving away about $5,000 in guns and accessories at the grand opening, said Bobby Alquist, son of owners Richard and Mary Alquist.

There will be no purchase necessary to enter the raffle. There is also expected to be a Facebook raffle, for those who are not able to make the grand opening.

According to Alquist, the new store will feature a different selection from the current store, located at 120 S. Center St.. And promotional prices on some of those new goods may cause shoppers to take some home with them..

Alquist added that the layout of the new location is “way better.”

Shortly after the opening of the new location, construction will begin on a gun range at the new store. It is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

There will be several gun vendors and manufacturers at the grand opening, to show off products and answer any questions customers may have.

Once the new location is open, the old store is expected to close for a short period some time after, as the family opens a new store in its location, said Alquist. It is not determined what the new store will be at this time.

The grand opening will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 26.
