The 4th of July in Turlock is always something to celebrate with a thrilling annual parade that attracts thousands and a stellar fireworks show that closes out the night.
Beginning at 10 a.m., the Downtown Turlock 4th of July Parade will be making its way through Main Street, between East Canal Drive and Market Street, Broadway between A Street and Orchard Street, and First Street between A Street and Orchard Street. These streets will be closed during the parade for safety.
At the head of the parade will be Wardee “Gunner” Bruce, a retired Naval officer serving as the Grand Marshal. This parade’s theme celebrates veterans and will carry the theme of Honor. Courage. Sacrifice. Bruce was determine to be a perfect fit due to his dedication to veteran communities and his 30 years of service in the Navy.
Among the entries already signed up for the parade are Mayor Gary Soiseth, Stanislaus State President Ellen Junn, Police Chief Nino Amirfar, Fire Chief Robert Talloni, the Disabled American Veterans, Assemblyman Heath Flora, 2016’s Best of Show Car. “Uncle Sam” and Lady Liberty will close out the parade.
While enjoying the parade, guests can enjoy the selection of vendors including Cap’n Coop’s Kettle Corn, Heaven Snow, The Apple Chick, Oak Barrel Ice and Creamery, Kraving Kebab Pizza, Maria’s Mexican Food and Seafood, Rolls on Wheels, Sweet and Sour Licorice, Mary Kay, Lipsense, Origami Owl, and even a psychic.
Kids will also have a special zone of their own this year with free face painting, balloon twisting, dance lessons, henna tattoos, and meet and greets with Anna and Elsa from Frozen and Batman and Spiderman.
In addition to vendors, downtown businesses will be taking part in the fun as well with restaurant specials ranging from breakfast burritos to tri tip sandwiches and hotdogs.
After the parade, community members can head toward Stanislaus State for the fireworks show at 9 p.m. However prior to the event, Stanislaus State will be offering a live jazz performance at the University Amphitheater, live music at Pergola Meadows, and entertainment for kids from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the University Quad.
The 4th of July Parade takes place on Jul. 4 at 10 a.m. and the Stanislaus State fireworks show will take place at 9 p.m. with additional event taking place prior to the event from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
