Armed robber arrested after returning to scene while police are still there Saturday night

On Saturday, November 20th, 2021, at 11:45 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported armed robbery that had just occurred at QuikStop, 2406 W Monte Vista Ave, Turlock.

When officers arrived on scene and began investigating, they determined that a subject, later identified as Alfonso Garcia, 22, of Turlock, had entered the store armed with a knife and approached the clerk while he was counting currency, demanded an undisclosed amount of currency, demanded that he open a locked cabinet containing alcohol, and then fled the scene eastbound with the currency and two bottles of alcohol.

While officers were still on scene investigating, a sergeant who was sitting outside of the business saw a subject matching the description of their suspect, Garcia, begin to run up to the business, just after seeing him hiding. The sergeant conducted a high risk takedown of the subject and detained him at gunpoint.

After the clerk positively identified that subject, Garcia, as the suspect, he was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of robbery and violation of parole.
