Arrest made in Tuesday night paternal kidnapping

On Tuesday, June 8th, 2021, at approximately 8:00 pm, the Turlock Police Department received a call of a kidnapping that had just occurred in the 2200 block of E Hawkeye Ave. The caller reported that her son, Owen McDonald, 32, of Turlock, had shown up at her house uninvited and took his son whom she had custody of, without her permission.

When officers arrived at the home, they found McDonald outside, but his son was not with him. Initially, McDonald refused to tell officers where his son was, but eventually, he told them that he was at a home in the 4600 block of E Harnhart Rd in unincorporated Ceres. Officers responded to the home and found the child safe with other family members, who were unaware of the custody status and that McDonald had kidnapped his son.

The son was returned to the legal guardian and McDonald was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of kidnapping, interference with child custody, and violation of probation.
