On Wednesday, July 19th, 2023, at 11:59 pm, the Turlock Fire Department was dispatched to a reported trash receptacle fire in front of a residence in the 300 block of Mitchell Ave, Turlock.
When firefighters arrived on scene, they found several trash cans fully involved that had been lined up against the curb waiting for pickup.
Simultaneously, another trash can fire was reported down the street in the 500 block of Mitchell Ave. That fire was threatening a couple of nearby vehicles, however, they were able to be quickly moved away.
Firefighters quickly extinguished all fires and prevented any extension or injuries.
Based on the circumstances, it was obvious that the fires were all arson. The Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit responded to investigate.
