Arsonist starts fire behind Walmart Neighborhood Market Thursday night

On Thursday, March 4th, 2021, at approximately 7:40 pm, the Turlock Fire Department received a call reporting wooden pallets on fire behind the Walmart Neighborhood Market located at 2480 Geer Rd. The Turlock Fire Department responded with Battalion 4, Engine 33, and Engine 34.

Battalion 4 and Engine 33 arrived on scene approximately fives minutes later to find approximately 40 wooden pallets on fire threatening a structure and other pallets. Battalion 4 assumed command and put crews in the offensive strategy.

Crews began attacking the fire and brought it under control within minutes and fully extinguished it shortly thereafter. Once crews cleaned up, command was terminated and all fire units went clear and available. The Turlock Police Department responded and classified the fire as an arson, however, it’s unknown what exactly led to that classification being made.
