A native of Marin County, Art was raised in Crows Landing. He attended Mountain View School and Turlock High School. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Merchant Marines. A dairyman for many years, Art retired from General Foods in Modesto after 30 years of service. After retiring, he moved to Oregon for 10 years before returning to Hilmar in 2005 where he lived until his passing. Art loved his family. He loved cars, going to car shows and driving his “52” Buick brought him great joy.
Art is preceded in death by the mother of his children Frances Costa; son Dennis Costa; sisters Dorothy Keaton and Alice Aldredge. He is survived by his daughter Joanne Costa of Modesto; sons Art Costa (Henni) of Putney, VT and David Costa of Turlock; grandchild Colin of Putney, VT and step grandchild Stephanie Walter of Union City.
Arrangements are entrusted to Allen Mortuary. A graveside service will be at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella on Friday, March 5 at 12:30 p.m.
