Assault victim nearly dies at scene Tuesday night

On Tuesday, November 16th, 2021, at 9:57 pm, the Turlock Police Department, Turlock Fire Department, and American Medical Response were dispatched to a reported man down in the parking lot of Auto Zone, 1272 Geer Rd, Turlock.

The first arriving officer got out with the victim and discovered that he was unresponsive and had a very faint pulse. Thinking he was the victim of an opioid overdose, the officer administered Naloxone, more commonly known as Narcan, an extremely effective and fast opioid reversing agent. The Narcan had no affect, so the officer had no choice but to helplessly wait for fire and medical personnel to arrive.

Once they did, they were able to regain the victim’s consciousness and ground transported him to a local hospital with a moderate injury to his head.

Officers began investigating, and after reviewing surveillance camera footage, determined that this was not an opioid overdose, but rather an assault and battery.

The suspect is described as a male adult, standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall, and weighing about 200 pounds. He was wearing a jean jacket, red shirt, and blue jeans, and was last seen leaving the area northbound on Geer Rd in a white sedan.

The investigation remains on-going. Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is encouraged to call Officer Dustin Ferreira at 209-668-6576.
