Back and roof of home go up in flames early Sunday morning

On Sunday, December 4th, 2022, at 12:07 am, the Turlock Fire Department, Modesto Fire Department, Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigations Unit, Turlock Police Department, and American Medical Response were dispatched to a reported residential working structure fire at a residence in the 100 block of N Berkeley Ave, Turlock.

When crews arrived on scene, they found a single-story single-family dwelling with heavy fire from the back and roof of the structure.

Firefighters were told that three people were possibly trapped inside, so they made entry into the home in an attempt to search for and rescue them, despite the dangers posed by the heavy fire conditions. Luckily, no one was located during the search.

Firefighters began fire attack and after a bit of work, were able to knock down and extinguish the fire.

Firefighters remained on scene for an extended period of time after the fire was out conducting overhaul, investigation, and other post-fire activities.

The Turlock Irrigation District and Pacific Gas and Electric Company responded to the scene to secure utilities, while the Modesto Fire Department and Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District provided city coverage for the duration of the incident.

One firefighter sustained minor injuries as a result of the fire.

The cause and origin of the fire remain unknown.
